Pacific Life Re and Thrive Re Consulting Announce Claims Automation Partnership

Pacific Life Re has announced a partnership with Health & Wellness experts, Thrive Re Consulting, to aid in the development of the reinsurer’s claims rules engine.

The Claims Rules Engine is a part of a suite of products within UnderwriteMe, Pacific Life Re’s market leading underwriting digital platform.  The Claims Rules Engine, which currently incorporates a database of over 6,500 medical conditions, provides comprehensive initial and ongoing assessment for claimants and their Doctors. The outputs of the engine include ultimate claim decisions and recommendations in terms of rehabilitation and return to work programs.

The features of the workplace disability and a successful return to work are often determined by a complex interaction of factors that extend far beyond an individual’s physical disability, impairment or level of day to day functioning.  Pacific Life Re recognises the value of automating the identification of biopsychosocial obstacles at the earliest opportunity in the claims management process in order to improve wellness outcomes for claimants.

In order to include the most up to date practices, Thrive Re Consulting will be undertaking leading-edge research to identify the most specific factor and questions to be integrated into the Claims Rules Engine.

Mr Andrew Gill, Managing Director at Pacific Life Re Australia said “The partnership with Thrive Re Consulting provides an exciting opportunity to go even further in delivering a fast, highly personalised and complete service for claimants.  By entering into this partnership, we will enhance the claims experience and help claimants get back on their feet sooner.”

Liz Radley, Director of Thrive Re Consulting said “Thrive Re is extremely proud to be able to collaborate with Pacific Life Re on such an important project.  Our team is very excited to be contributing to the development of a technically advanced Claims rules Engine, enabling early and accurate claims decision making which will translate to improved customers outcomes.”

The Claims Rules Engine is expected to be released to the general market in early 2019.
